Reliability Assessment for Open-Source Software Using Deterministic and Probabilistic Models

چکیده
Nowadays, computer software plays a significant role in all fields of our life. Essentially open-source provides economic benefits for companies such that it allows building new without the need to create from scratch. Therefore, is extremely used, and accordingly, software’s quality critical issue one top research directions literature. In development cycles software, checking reliability an important indicator release or not. The deterministic probabilistic models are two main categories used assess reliability. this paper, we perform comparative study between eight different models: models, six based on three methodologies: perfect debugging, imperfect Gompertz distribution. We evaluate employed using versions standard dataset which GNU’s Not Unix Network Object Model Environment projects. four evaluation criteria: sum square error, mean R-square, experimental results showed first version SRGM-4 debugging methodology achieved best result, last SRGM-6 distribution result terms R-square.

OSS(open source software) systems which serve as key components of critical infrastructures in our social life are still ever-expanding now. However, the poor handling of quality and customer support prohibit the progress of OSS. We focus on the management problems in the software quality issues that prohibit the progress of OSS. In this paper, we propose the method of reliability assessment ba...
متن کاملOpen Source Software and Reliability Metrics
Open source software during the last decade has got phenomenal success but still people are hesitant in picking up open source products. Various Studies shows that the adoption rate of open source software is very low especially in the countries like India. Reliability and quality of open source software may be the main concern for the most users. Users not only want high reliable software but ...
متن کاملSoftware Quality Assessment of Open Source Software
The open source software ecosystem comprises more than a hundred thousand applications of varying quality. Individuals and organizations wishing to use open source software packages have scarce objective data to evaluate their quality. However, open source development projects by definition allow anybody to read, and therefore evaluate their source code. In addition, most projects also publish ...

Context: Although reliability is a major concern of most open source projects, research on this problem has attracted attention only recently. In addition, the optimal versiondating for open source software considering its special properties is not yet discussed. Objective: In this paper, the reliability analysis and optimal version-updating for open source software are studied. Method: A modif...
